Description
I’ve always been fascinated by the fact the Puriri have a 5 year caterpillar stage, and on reaching maturity, their lifespan is approximately 24-48 hours. The Puriri moth is our largest moth and is endemic to Te Ika a Maui or north island of New Zealand. I have nostalgic childhood memories from spending many summers up in Bell Block, at my nana’s homestead, Mt Taranaki was the first sight everyday as we’d head out to explore and play. Over time I became aware of the deforestation that was taking place and the changes naturally offset outside of the sanctuary of the family homestead.
