Description
Moana Toroa Heads is a celebration of ‘moana’ the Albatross chick that took flight last year in 2016 from Taiaroa Heads on the Otago peninsula. It occurred during my Artist in Residence on Waiheke Island, having several trips to Dunedin to film and research at the Royal Albatross Centre, I know that environment intimately and of the middens on the peninsula, linking to my research and exploration of the historic middens and Pā sites on Te Motu Arairoa. Moana Toroa Heads is from the collection of artworks created for my Reading Middens, Tracing Lines exhibition at the close of my residency at Waiheke Community Art Gallery, 16 September – 17 October 2016.
